Rate limits and quotas
Two independent limits, both reported on every successful response.
Two limits
A per-minute rate limit protects burst capacity and is evaluated per API key. A request quota governs billing and is evaluated per subscription — daily on the free plan, monthly on paid plans. Exhausting either answers 429, but with a different error code so you can react correctly.

Poll the base, not the pair
One /v1/rates call returns every quoted currency against your base. Fetching the full table once a minute costs one request; fetching forty pairs individually costs forty.
